PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To put back a visible machine state to a previous state when an exception is occurred by an instruction. SOLUTION: Address information corresponding to the destination storage location in a register file in which instruction results to be stored is stored in a result tag queue in order according to program sequence. From the result tag queue, a first part of the address information is transferred to the register file and a second part of the address information is transferred to a backup queue in order to backup-store the content of the register file. Furthermore the backup queue receives and stores another information corresponding to the content of at least one or more destination storage locations in the register file before the destination storage locations are changed according to the second part of the address information. When an instruction exception is occurred, the other information is transferred from the backup queue to the storage location of the register file. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
