Numeric controller of a machine tool, robot or production machine in which in an interpolation cycle set positions for system components, especially drives are generated. A control axis (L) is used in the interpolation cycle reference values to read out a look-up table (Tab). This is then used to generate set position values for subsequent sequence axes which can however be freely selected using the interpolation cycle functions. An Independent claim is made for a method for numeric control of a machine tool.
