PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for forming an ultrasonic image by which a volume range is electronically scanned by a two-dimensional arrey of a transducer element connected to a beam former. SOLUTION: The method comprise: a step to actuate arrey elements to transmit ultrasonic energy to a volume range, a process to receive echo signals by the arrey elements corresponding to the transmitted ultrasonic energy; and a step to sample a volume range at a sub-part comprising sub-sets of beam patterns corresponding to the volume range by restricting the array of actuated elements.
