PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition which does not contain a conventional halogen-based flame retardant, antimony-based flame retardant or phosphorous flame retardant, or the like, has excellent flame retardancy, and has excellent performances such as moldability, mechanical performances, and heat resistance, and to provide a molded article obtained therefrom. SOLUTION: This flame-retardant resin composition comprising at least a flammable resin and a condensed multi-ring aromatic resin, is characterized in that the condensed multi-ring aromatic resin is contained in an amount of 1 to 40pts.wt.per 100pts.wt. of the flammable resin and is produced by polymerizing a condensed multi-ring aromatic hydrocarbon in the presence of hydrogen fluoride and boron trifluoride as catalysts.
