METHOD FOR MEASURING HOMOCYSTEINE AND REAGENT FOR MEASUREMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for enzymically measuring a homocysteine by which many specimens are treated accurately and readily; and to provide a reagent for the measurement. SOLUTION: The method for measuring the homocysteine comprises removing L-cysteine from the specimen by the action of an L-cysteine-splitting enzyme catalyzing a reaction of forming ammonia, pyruvic acid and hydrogen sulfide by the action on the L-cysteine, and substantially not reacting with D-cysteine and the homocysteine, in the presence of pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, and determining the homocysteine by the action of an enzyme reacting with the homocysteine and the L-cysteine.
