<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control unauthorized use of contents placed under management by an end user. <P>SOLUTION: A contents usage control device is provided with functions, which register and confirm the device of a service-providing destination and an authorized user and also restrict the rewrite of registration contents so that a service may not be used freely by a device, except that of the authorized service-providing destination and an unauthorized user, when the service is provided. These restrictions realize copyright protection on the information provided in the service. As a concrete example of the device, a server, which holds the contents such as a movie, music and so on, can be cited.
