The support (1) is made from a single strip of material and comprises the following parts in the following order - a first fastener part (2) extending parallel to the wall (9), a horizontal shelf support part (3) extending at right angles to the first fastener part, a curved part (4) bent through an angle of more than 90 deg., a brace part (5) extending in the direction of the wall and a second fastener part (6) extending parallel to the wall. The brace part has torsional end sections (7) connecting it to the curved and second fastener parts so that the middle section (8) of the brace part lies within an essentially vertical plane extending essentially at right angles to the wall.
