PURPOSE: Provided is a method for making artificial marble, by which artificial marble of good quality having various patterns and colors like natural marbles is produced in a large amount through a simple process. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of: applying a release agent on the surfaces of an upper and a lower molds, spraying a gel coating agent in a thickness of 0.5-0.8 mm and heat treating them to maintain a state of dry to the touch; applying a pigment for forming a pattern contained in a dropper on the mold surfaces in a thickness of 1-1.5 mm; mixing an unsaturated polyester resin with 0.01-0.04% of a curing agent and painting a desired pattern by using the applied pigment and the mixture with a brush; mixing an unsaturated polyester resin, alumina and calcium carbonate in a ratio of 1:1:0.5, adding 0.05-0.12% of a curing agent thereto, defoaming the mixture at 1 atm for 1 minute to form a compound, and putting the compound into the upper and the lower molds having the desired pattern; molding the compound in the upper and the lower molds at 20-25 deg.C for 30-50 minutes, demolding a molded product, and cooling and cutting the product. |
