The method of storing cigars for maturing involves using a chamber (6) which is normally closed but has access through an opening (5a,b). The humidity in the chamber is controlled by introducing a flow of moist air when the humidity drops. The air in the chamber can be renewed at set time periods, the intervening periods also be preset.
