摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a master carrier for magnetic transfer having fine projecting and recessed pattern wherein a magnetic layer is formed at both a projecting part and a recessed part and capable of performing magnetic transfer of high quality by cutting of the magnetic coupling between the magnetic layer of the projecting part and the magnetic layer of the recessed part, when magnetic transfer is performed by closely sticking the master carrier to a slave medium. SOLUTION: The master carrier for magnetic transfer is provided with a substrate 31 having the projecting and recessed pattern corresponding to the information to be transferred to the slave medium and the magnetic layer 32 formed on the projecting and recessed pattern of the substrate 31. The length L in the track direction of a projecting part 31a is≤4μm, the thickness t of a recessed part magnetic layer 32b is thinner than the depth d of a recessed part 31b (t<d) and the distance dM between the lower surface of the projecting part magnetic layer 32a and the upper surface of the recessed part magnetic layer 32b in the height direction satisfies the relation of dM≥A×L+B, when A and B are defined as coefficients (wherein A;0.005 to 0.5, B;0 to 0.1). The projecting part magnetic layer 32a and the recessed part magnetic layer 32b are magnetically separated, dispersion of a magnetic field under the influence of the recessed part magnetic layer 32b is reduced and magnetic transfer of high quality is realized.
