PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive resin composition having excellent quality stability, and excellent balance of fluidity, flame retardancy, heat resistance, transparency, color and dart impact resistance; and to provide a method for producing the resin composition. SOLUTION: The resin composition is obtained by charging (a) a thermoplastic resin, (b) a specific cage-shaped silsesguioxane part-cleaved structure and (c) a specified silicon compound, in amounts regulated so that the molar ratio of the components (c)/(b) is 0.5-3 into an extruder, and melt-kneading the charged materials.
