摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal apparatus in which a gap between substrates can easily be made uniform in the substrate face and the occurrence of a vacuum region in a liquid crystal layer at low temperature due to the arranged spacers is prevented. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal apparatus has a spacer 25 arranged between a pair of substrates 10, 20 holding a liquid crystal 50. The liquid crystal 50 and the spacer 25 are disposed inside a frame-like sealing material which is closed in a region in the substrate face. The density of the spacer 25 in the sealing material is controlled to 100 particles/mm<SP>2</SP>to 300 particles/mm<SP>2</SP>, and the average particle size D of the spacer 25 is controlled to 0.96d to 1.02d, wherein (d) is the layer thickness of the liquid crystal layer in the region where the spacer 25 is arranged.
