The room divider has a support construction consisting of profiles (10) which for bracing in the room are flexibly and elastically deformable. A cover (11) is provided for the support construction. The room divider without changing the profiles can be made wider by reducing its height. The profiles are multi-sectioned and consist of at least two materials, the abutments of which are offset in relation to one another when the parts of the profile are assembled. One material is encompassed or encased by the other material.
