A novel method for removing a lead sulfate film formed on an electrode of a lead-acid battery by decomposing the film into a particulate state without causing the film to come off or float, thereby recovering the performance of the lead-acid battery and prolonging the life. The electrodes of the battery are not damaged and noise is not produced externally. The method for removin g a lead sulfate film formed by sulfation on an electrode of a lead-acid batte ry is characterized in that a pulse current with a short pulse width causing a skin effect is applied and thereby the surface portion of the film is concentratedly decomposed. The pulse width of the pulse current is preferabl y 1 microsecond or less. |
