PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating device which stably uniformly coats a developer carrier with a liquid developer. SOLUTION: The coating device for coating a surface of a member 402 to be coated with the liquid developer has a coating member 404 which bears a prescribed quantity of the liquid developer on a surface thereof and rotates, and an intermediate coating member 405 which has a surface contacting with the surface of the coating member 404, moved at a uniform speed in the same direction as the surface of the coating member and is brought into contact with the surface of the member 402 to be coated with the liquid developer and has a surface contacting with the surface of the member 402, moved in the opposite direction of the surface of the member 402. Surface waviness of the surface of the intermediate coating member 405 is (cut-off value: fh0.8mm/fl2.5mm)×Wca and≥0.7μm. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
