PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document information processing apparatus capable of reducing processing time by easily executing a process for determining whether or not a copyright violation has been committed.

SOLUTION: A document code C1 is created from a bit code indicating the symbol string of document information and thus used as a code for identifying this document information. A condition code is created by encoding information indicating the requirements for granting copyright. A copyright holder code is created by encoding information specifying the copyright holder. These three kinds of codes are encrypted at a time. The encrypted codes are described and distributed as the tag information of the document information.
