PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the fuel pressure in a fuel injection system based on the conditional change of the fuel injection system after the operation of an internal combustion engine is stopped. SOLUTION: An ECU 40 determines whether or not the elapsed time Time_off after stopping the operation of an internal combustion engine 10 elapses the determination time Time1, and if ECU determines that the elapsed time Time_off after stopping the operation of the internal combustion engine 10 elapses the determination time Time1, the ECU further determines whether or not the fuel delivery pipe temperature Thd is lower than the determination temperature Th1. If the ECU 40 determines that the fuel delivery pipe temperature Thd is lower than the determination temperature Th1, the drive signal is transmitted to a fuel relief valve 24, the fuel in a fuel delivery pipe FD is returned to a fuel tank 20 via a return pipe 23, and the fuel pressure in the fuel delivery pipe FD is reduced to a pressure range in which no fuel leaks from a fuel injection valve IJ.
