<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer cleaning device preventing an abnormal image due to cleaning failure by stably maintaining cleaning of an intermediate transfer belt. <P>SOLUTION: In the transfer cleaning device cleaning transfer residue toner on the intermediate transfer belt 8 by applying bias of polarity reverse to that of toner onto a conductive brush roll 11, the voltage applied to the conductive brush roll 11 is varied by feeding back the value of the surface potential of the intermediate transfer belt 8 detected by a surface potential detecting means 12 detecting the surface potential of the intermediate transfer belt 8. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
