<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording medium suitable for higher-density recording by improving the difference in light absorption between the amorphous state and crystalline state of a recording layer. <P>SOLUTION: The information recording medium has a substrate 6, the recording layer 1 of a phase change which receives a light beam and is recorded with information by the state change generated in the portions receiving the light beam, a dielectric protective layer 3 which is disposed between the substrate 6 and the recording layer 1, and a light absorptive protective layer 7 which is disposed between the substrate 6 and the protective layer 3 and includes a dielectric material and metal, metalloid or semiconductor material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
