PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a cost and lower vibrations and noises in the case of an operation, and to improve the nature of soil. SOLUTION: In a soil improvement method in which a cylindrical auger case 3 excavating a ground by rotation in the fixed direction and au auger 5 interiorly finished in the auger case 3 in a freely forward turn and reverse turn are used, soil in the auger case 3 drilled by the auger case 3 is excavated by forwardly turning the auger 5. In the method, improved soil is pushed and solidified successively and an excavated pit is buried, pushing improved soil in the auger case 3 against a peripheral surface in the horizontal direction of the excavated pit by the pushing surface of an auger head 6 installed to the lower section of the auger 5 by reversely turning the auger 5 while conducting the lifting-lowering motion of the auger 5.
