PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely remove and discharge chips accumulated in a folded part 17 of a flexible protective cover member 10 extendably arranged between a movable member and a fixed member of a machine tool. SOLUTION: A roller shape weight 19 is rotatably arranged at an upwardly opening folded part of a sheet 10a of the flexible belt shape protective cover member 10. Further, window apertures 20 for removing the chips are independently and protrusively formed at a plurality of places except for both right and left sides of the sheet 10a within a range of the sheet 10a, through which the weight 19 passes as the movable member reciprocates.
