PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a cylindrical body of metal or the like subjected to surface treatment such as rustproofing, which is free from any dangerous work at an elevated temperature or any breakage of a base material to be treated despite the use of the thermal spraying technology, does not bring about any distortion or cracking of the base material unlike the hot dipping method, and does not require performing the processing of the base material and the surface treatment in separate shops unlike the hot dipping method thereby cutting the transport cost so that the resulting costs are greatly reduced. SOLUTION: At least one of both faces of the base plate material 1 is subjected to thermal spraying. The base plate material 1 is formed into a cylindrical shape so that the face subjected to the thermal spraying becomes the inner face, with a clearance 2 produced between both ends 1a and 1b of the base material 1. Then, the cylindrical body is manufactured by welding both ends 1a and 1b of the cylindrically formed base material 1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
