<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve user-friendliness by allowing a user to select contents in a similar operation as receiving contents of TV broadcasting programs, even when receiving contents other than the contents of the TV broadcasting programs. <P>SOLUTION: An information receiving apparatus 100 previously stores a plurality of receiving channel information, including information on kinds of media into a memory M. When receiving, a user specifies a channel to be received by using a remote controller 18. When specifying the channel by a channel-specifying operation key or an up-down key provided therewith, for example the remote controller 18, if the operation key or the up-down key is operated, a remote controller light-receiving part 17 receives operation signals, such as by infrared rays from the remote controller 18, to supply them to a CPU 8. Next, received channel information on a specified channel is read from the memory M, by a control from the CPU 8.
