PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep positioning precision high while smoothly positioning a cavity plate and a core-retainer plate and releasing the plates without depending on a mold temperature, in registering both plates during molding, and to make it possible to use the plates for a long time and consequently, reduce a manufacturing cost by increasing the durability of the plates. SOLUTION: This positioning device 10 is constituted of a positioning member 12 whose one end is fixed to a stationary side mounting plate 1, an engagement member 19, equipped with an engagement piece 22, which is mounted on a stationary side template 3 and resiliently spreadable in the diametral direction of the positioning member 12 by inserting the member 12 and a member 14 to be secured with an engagement groove 29 which can be engaged with the engagement piece 22 fixed to a movable side template 4. The engagement piece 22 is spread open under control based on the relative positions of the engagement piece 22 with the outer peripheral faces 16 and 18 of the positioning member 12, following the relative movement of the engagement member 19 with the positioning member 12 by the operation of the template 4, and when the engagement piece 22 is engaged with the engagement groove 29, the template 3 is relatively positioned with the template 4.
