PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a burst edge detection circuit and a distortion compensation amplifier capable of accurately applying distortion compensation to burst waves of diversified forms in accordance with an edge level by a simplified circuit configuration. SOLUTION: The distortion compensation amplifier is provided with a burst edge detection section 20 to which a plurality of voltage references to detect the edge of the burst wave are set and that detects the leading and trailing of the burst wave in real time by detecting whether the level of an input signal including the burst wave is each voltage reference value or over or each voltage reference value or below, and applies the distortion compensation of an amplifier 18 by phase shift and attenuation control in accordance with the level of the input signal depending on the result of the detection by the burst edge detection section 20.
