摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight of an extruded material, to suppress lowing of dimensional accuracy and to enhance productivity when using an aluminum alloy extruded material having an outer peripheral wall of polygonal cross section of a non-regular polygonal shape constituted of 6 or more even sides as an energy absorbing member such as a side member. SOLUTION: This energy absorbing member is made of aluminum alloy extruded material having a plurality of ribs 9 and 10 crossing at a portion and connecting facing vertexes 11-13 and 12-14 of the outer peripheral wall inside the outer peripheral wall constituted of even sides 1 to 8. When the number of sides of the outer peripheral wall is represented by m and the number of the ribs by n, n∠m/2 is established and vertexes which are not connected by the ribs exist by m-2n.
