Horizontal casting chamber comprises a metallic casing body (3) having a casting material filling opening (5) on its machine end (2) and a casting material outlet opening (12) on its mold end (1). The casing body inner surface is provided in the peripheral direction on its region opposite the filling opening and/or on its region surrounding the outlet opening with at least one ceramic segment (6,8) to prevent contact between the metal material of the casing body and the casting material. Independent claims are also included for: a vertical casting chamber; and the use of exchangeable ceramic segments as protective and insulating inserts in a casting chamber. Preferred Features: The ceramic segment is ring- or sleeve-shaped and is fixed in the casing body by a heat shrinkage seat. |
