ANTIFIBROTIC AGENT OF LIVER CONTAINING PLATYCODI RADIX EXTRACT AS EFFECTIVE INGREDIENT

PURPOSE: An antifibrotic agent of the liver containing an extract of Platycodi Radix of 20 years or more as an effective ingredient is provided. The extract of 20 year old Platycodi Radix has better pharmacological action and physiological activity than that of 2 to 4 year old one and is effective in treatment and prevention of liver diseases such as cirrhosis, liver fibrosis or the like. CONSTITUTION: An antifibrotic agent of the liver contains an extract of 20 year old Platycodi Radix. The Platycodi Radix extract is a water extract or an organic solvent extract. In the extraction process, Platycodi Radix powder is added about 5 to 10 times with water and extracted two times for 4 to 6hr at 90 to 100deg.C. Platycodi Radix powder is added about 3 times with an organic solvent, extracted two times at room temperature and then concentrated under reduced pressure. The organic solvent is methanol or ethanol. The extract has no toxicity to a human body and exhibits lower adverse effects than conventional chemotherapeutic agents.
