COATED SEED RICE, METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME AND SEEDLING RAISING MAT IN WHICH SEED RICE IS EMBEDDED USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain coated seed rice which has excellent preservability and sufficient germination force even after long-term preservation, to provide a method for producing the same and a seedling raising mat in which the seed rice is embedded, which is obtained by using the covered seed rice and in which complicated seed rice preparation/seeding operation of many complicated operations are omitted even in seedling raising operation of paddy rice and seedlings are simply raised without using a nursery box. SOLUTION: The coated seed rice 10 is obtained by coating seed rice 12 subjected to rice preparation treatment with a coating agent 14 containing a water-soluble polymer, preferably at least one of a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and carboxymethylcellulose (CMC). The seedling raising mat is obtained by embedding the coated seed rice in a seedling raising mat. Preferably the seedling raising mat is formed from ground chaff with a binder. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
