<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antimicrobial agent which is highly safe and has antimicrobial properties even through heating and an antimicrobial product. <P>SOLUTION: The antimicrobial agent contains any of leaves of Lagerstroemia speciosa L., leaves of Lagerstroemia speciosa L. heat-treated at ≥150°C and ≤300°C, an extract of the leaves of Lagerstroemia speciosa L., extracted from the leaves of Lagerstroemia speciosa L., or the heat-treated leaves of Lagerstroemia speciosa L., using an extraction solvent selected from the group consisting of an aqueous solvent, a hydrophilic solvent and an alcohol ester solvent, a purified extract obtained by partitioning extraction from an aqueous solution of the extract of the leaves of Lagerstroemia speciosa L., with the alcohol ester solvent and an extract of the leaves of Lagerstroemia speciosa L. which is extracted from the leaves of Lagerstroemia speciosa L. using the extraction solvent and heat-treated at ≥100°C and ≤210°C. The antimicrobial product is produced by a production process using a product raw material containing the antimicrobial agent and including heating at ≥100°C and ≤300°C. The extract of the leaves of Lagerstroemia speciosa L., is extracted from the leaves of Lagerstroemia speciosa L. by the extraction solvent selected from the aqueous solvent, the hydrophilic solvent and the alcohol ester solvent. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
