PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stable image by surely address discharging at an appropriate voltage corresponding to the kind of a phosphor. SOLUTION: By setting a voltage applying to address electrodes at a value corresponding to discharge characteristics of each address electrode containing the phosphor (a light emitting medium), the kind of the phosphor can be selected without restriction, address discharging is surely performed at an appropriate voltage corresponding to the kind of the phosphor, to provide the stable image. Since the individual address electrode can be discharged in a broad control voltage range, the address discharge can be surely and easily performed, to realize high definition images while eliminating mis-discharge.
