METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING SURFACE LAYER COMPRESSED WOODY MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a surface layer compressed woody material wherein a hysteresis of compressive deformation is given to a surface layer part and the surface layer part is effectively compressed (fixation or permanent fixation) by using the hysteresis. SOLUTION: A pair of small diameter rolls 123 are provided. A lumber WB having a required thickness is passed between a pair of rolls 123, and the surface layer is compression deformed by a specific size to give the compressive deformation hysteresis. By providing a water suction treater 10 which dips the compressed lumber WB into water in a tank 11 at an outlet of a pair of the rolls 123 and a hermetically sealing heater 20 which houses the water suction treated lumber WB in a container 22 to make a hermetically sealed state and heats that compressing by the specific size, the lumber WB which has compacted only the surface layer is manufactured.
