IMPACT-ABSORBING STRUCTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact absorbing structure for absorbing an impact load effectively and adequately in a knee airbag device.

SOLUTION: The impact absorbing structure is provided with an airbag module 10 on the rear side of an instrument panel low part 14 arranged ahead of a seat. The airbag module 10 connects with a knee panel 11 which forms an opening 11d, and a thin steel plate 17 (a thin steel plate) is attached to the rear side of a cover member 16 for covering the instrument panel low part 14, in correspondence to the opening 11d. An opening 11d is formed as a work space and both sides of its upper part are fixed to a reinforcement 12. The opening 11a is reinforced by the metal plate 17 and impact force at the time of collision is shared and dispersed by it, thus an adequate load balance is obtained.
