<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve image quality in the case of performing monochrome expansion to video signals, especially, to provide an image processing system capable of properly processing an image including a non-natural image, a projector, a program, an information storage medium, and a monochrome expansion processing method. <P>SOLUTION: The monochrome expansion processing is carried out by using a brightness histogram generation part 142 for generating a brightness histogram presenting a distribution of the number of pixels in each predetermined brightness segment in an image based on an input video signal; a brightness distribution analysis part 144 for deciding, based on the brightness histogram, whether or not the number of brightness segments indicating a predetermined frequency or more exceeds a threshold; and an expansion ratio setting part 146 and an expansion processing part 148 which perform monochrome expansion processing when decided that the number does not exceed the threshold, and do not perform the monochrome expansion processing when decided to be exceeding. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
