<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device by which occurrence of useless paper is reduced by compromising no readability by preventing font size in an N-up mode from reduction more than necessary, and a printing instruction device, an image forming device, a printing method and a program. <P>SOLUTION: A user specifies the desired minimum font size via a host computer 2. The recommended N-up number computing section 37 of a printer 3 calculates the maximum N-up number containing no font having the size of the desired minimum font size or smaller upon applying printing instruction to the printer 3 by the user.
