PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To draw a memory cell electrically isolated in a memory array to a non-floating state.

SOLUTION: A memory array includes a plurality of memory cells. Each memory cell 12 is constituted of one or more gates, and includes a word line 20 for controlling the gates of the plurality of memory cells. A driver 26 is connected to the word line 20 in a first position. The driver 26 is operable to drive the gate of the memory cell 12. A load element 40 is connected to the word line 20 in a second position apart from the first position. The load element 40 is operable to draw a set of memory cells electrically isolated from the driver 26 to a substantially non-floating state.
