PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a relief valve producing no noise due to hunting phenomena in starting and stopping a refrigerating cycle, having a simple structure, and having superior reliability in valve opening/closing operation and superior durability. SOLUTION: This relief valve is so constituted that a reversing plate has a spring performance reacting to a hydraulic pressure inflowing into a valve chamber and operating in a slow action type, when the hydraulic pressure inflowing into the valve chamber is a prescribed value or less, the reversing plate operates in the side of a valve seat part, abuts on the valve seat part, blocks a relief valve port and makes the valve in a closed state, when the hydraulic pressure inflowing into the valve chamber is the prescribed value or more, the reversing plate operates in the side of withdrawing from the valve seat part, starts to separate from the valve seat part, starts to open the relief valve port and starts the valve opening state and, when the hydraulic pressure inflowing into the valve chamber reaches the prescribed value, the reversing plate operates in the side of withdrawing from the valve seat part, completely separates from the valve seat part, opens the relief valve port and makes the valve in the opening state.
