PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover, beforehand at a stage of image data, drooping which becomes sensible in pulse signals at the time of driving a laser diode, and to use an existing IC for driving a laser as it is without depending on a special circuit for correcting a driving current. SOLUTION: In a laser recorder 41, a density control for halftone is carried out by exposing and scanning a laser light L emitted from the laser diode LD on the basis of image data Din of N gradations onto a record medium, and recording an image by multi-value recording. The laser recorder 41 has a correcting means 51 for detecting a continuity of one line of the image data Din prior to recording of the image, and correcting drooping for every one-line scanning of the image data Din, a modulating means 43 for carrying out pulse width modulation of the image data Din having the drooping corrected by the correcting means 51, and a driving means 44 for driving the laser diode LD on the basis of the pulse signal Sout having the pulse width modulated by the modulating means 43.
