<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing system for a rewritable paper, in which a rewritable paper printed by the predetermined number of used times is scrapped and which can prevent from being printed by an unauthorized person. <P>SOLUTION: An MPU 19 in a rewrite printer 2, which has received data from a host machine 22, judges whether or not to start printing based on the received data and reads the number of used times of a magnetic stripes 3 with a magnetic head 5 at starting. Then, the MPU judges whether its number exceeds a limiting number of used times or not and, when not exceeded, the number of used times in the magnetic stripe 3 is updated by adding one time portion and a printing treatment is executed on a rewrite sheet 1, while when exceeded, the rewrite sheet 1 is discharged without being printed. At printing, the MPU also reads the ID code of a printer recorded on the rewrite sheet 1 so as to judge whether the printing is allowed or not.
