<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical apparatus such as liquid crystal device which enables the enhancement of the light shielding performance and allows bright and high grade image display by providing a structure of shielding the stray light propagating in a scanning line. <P>SOLUTION: The electrooptical device is provided with a pixel electrode 9a, a thin film transistor 30 subjecting the pixel electrode to switching control, a scanning line 3a supplying a scanning signal to a gate electrode 3g of the thin film transistor and a data line 6a supplying a picture signal to a source region of the thin film transistor on the substrate.
