摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having an excellent charge-discharge cycle characteristic; and to provide a negative electrode material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery and its manufacturing method capable of realizing the secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: This negative electrode material for this nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery can reversibly store and release lithium. Its composition contains a solid phase A and a solid phase B different from each other. The negative electrode material for the nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery has a structure where the entire surface or a part thereof around the solid phase A is covered with the solid phase B. The negative electrode material is characterized by that the solid phase A contains at least one kind of element selected from silicon, tin and zinc; the solid phase B contains the at least one kind element, at least one kind of element selected from elements in group 2A, transition elements, elements in group 2B, elements in group 3B and elements in group 4B; and the solid phase A is in at least one kind of state selected from an amorphous state and a low-crystalline state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
