<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which both forms an image of high quality and improves productivity by shortening the time needed for adjusting operations by classifying the adjusting operations which are performed prior to an image forming operation and performing them at different speeds. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus which forms an image of a toner image fixed on a recording medium by forming the toner image on an image carrier and finally transferring and fixing the toner image on the recording medium and has a plurality of process speeds is equipped with an apparatus adjustment part 50 which performs specified adjusting operations in a predetermined timing prior to image formation; and the apparatus adjustment part 50 classifies the adjusting operations into a first adjusting operation carried out at a given process speed and a second adjusting operation carried out at a speed faster than the process speed and carries out the first adjusting operation after the second adjusting operation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
