PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to view monitored images efficiently while going back to the past. SOLUTION: This remote monitoring system is provided with: a monitoring camera 2 for photographing a monitoring target; an encoding terminal 1 for compressing and dividing monitored image information photographed by the monitoring camera 2, adding identification information for identifying monitoring date and hour to individual divided compressed data and storing the compressed data in a database of a distribution server 5 of a WAN 4; and an information terminal 6 for requesting the compressed data which are stored in the database of the distribution server 5 of the WAN 4 and divided into a plurality of parts on the basis of user authentication, and decompressing and reproducing the compressed data distributed from the distribution server 5 in response to the request.
