PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a deterioration in curving properties and to realize symmetrical characteristics with respect to all directions in image display of liquid crystal display. SOLUTION: A first transparent and insulative substrate having a first electrode having a shape radially expanding from a center in one pixel, a second electrode having a shape radially expanding from the center in one pixel and disposed alternately with the first electrode and a second transparent and insulative substrate opposed to the first substrate are used, alignment treatment are performed as the treatment on both substrates suitably so that liquid crystal molecules are in a prescribed alignment state and a liquid crystal material is encapsulated between the gap between the substrates to form a base part structure of the element. Polarizing plates are disposed on both surfaces of the element having the formed structure to form the liquid crystal display element. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
