PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a phenylsilane by using an aryl chloride. SOLUTION: The method for producing the phenylsilane comprises reacting the aryl chloride with a hydrosilane in a liquid phase in the presence of an organometallic catalyst composed of an organophosphorus compound represented by formula [1] [wherein R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>are each H, OH, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an alkylaryloxy group, an arylalkyloxy group or a hydrocarbon group which may have a silyl group] or formula [2] [wherein R<SB>4</SB>, R<SB>5</SB>, R<SB>6</SB>and R<SB>7</SB>are each H, OH, an alkoxy group, an aryloxy group, an alkylaryloxy group, an arylalkyloxy group or a hydrocarbon group which may have a silyl group; R<SB>8</SB>and R<SB>9</SB>are each an H atom, a hydrocarbon group which may have a silyl group or a silyl group; Q<SB>1</SB>and Q<SB>2</SB>are each an O atom or a hydrocarbon group which may have a silyl group represented by the formula: (CR<SB>10</SB>R<SB>11</SB>); m represents an integer of 1-3 when both of Q<SB>1</SB>and Q<SB>2</SB>are oxygen atoms and m represents an integer of 0-3 when Q<SB>1</SB>or Q<SB>2</SB>is a substance other than the oxygen atom].
