PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair dye composition giving the whole hair high-brightness and high-chroma color tone with inconspicuous gray hair and good color sustainability, and to provide a hair dye set and a hair dyeing method. SOLUTION: The hair dye composition comprises (A) one or more oxidative dye component selected from p-phenylenediamine, toluene-2,5-diamine sulfate, toluene-2,5-diamine hydrochloride and toluene-2,5-diamine and (B) a 2nd oxidative dye component in the weight ratio A/B of (1:2) to (1:10). This hair dye enables hair dyeing having the following advantages: even in case the hair mixed with gray hair is dyed, the gray hair is properly dyed and therefore inconspicuous; gray hair and normal hair can be dyed to a similar extent; and the whole hair can be afforded with high-brightness and high-chroma color tone with bright and clear feeling and good color sustainability as well.
