The nail has a nail head (1) with a side face (1.1) which can lie against a similar face of a similarly formed nail so that both nails can be driven into the workpiece together. The nail shank (3) in cross section is not round and does not even have the shape of a conventional nail split along its longitudinal axis. The nail shank is located in relation to the nail head so that the side outer face (3.1) of the nail shank changes into the side outer face of the nail head without a step or is offset in relation to it.
