Disclosed is a method to reduce peak to average power ratio in a communication system. The method includes the steps of providing a plurality of code channels, and assigning each of the plurality of code channels a phase rotation, each of the plurality of code channels being individually spaced from one another using the phase rotation. The phase rotation may be multiples +/- pi /2 or +/- pi .
