PURPOSE: A system for operating a compressor in an air conditioner for a vehicle is provided to widen a range of temperature selection and effectively operate a compressor according to a temperature of outdoor air. CONSTITUTION: An air conditioner operating system includes a temperature sensor of an evaporator, a switch for a blower motor, and an air conditioner switch. The air conditioner switch is formed of a first stage air conditioner switch, and a second stage air conditioner switch. In the case that an operator turns on the blower switch and the first stage air conditioner switch, operation of a compressor and operation of a fan motor of a condenser are stopped when the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor is lower than 0 deg.C. The compressor and the fan motor are operated to drive an air conditioner system when the sensed temperature is higher than 4 deg.C. In the case that the operator turns on the blower switch and the second stage air conditioner switch, operation of the compressor and operation of the fan motor of the condenser are stopped when the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor is lower than 4 deg.C. The compressor and the fan motor are operated to drive the air conditioner system when the sensed temperature is higher than 8 deg.C.
