1,179,915. Non-refillable bottles. P. KEARNEY. 20 April, 1967 [9 Feb., 1967], No. 18310/67. Heading B8D. A non-refillable bottle 12 has bayonet slots with recesses 24 to receive projections 26 on a spout assembly 16 permanently secured to the bottle by adhesive 44 and provided with a oneway valve 52 and air vent passage 56. The end of the spout has a pivoted cap 32 and the assembly is enclosed by a screw-on cover 18. Drain holes 54 are formed in a cross-wall 50. The valve 52 is formed by a curved flap pivoted on a cylindrical body. In a modification, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), a flap valve is fitted to a hole in the wall 50; or a valve of the type shown in Fig. 2 is mounted on a flange upstanding from the wall (50), Fig. 7 (not shown), or a hemispherical valve member (92), Fig. 8 (not shown), is retained on the wall (50) by means of rods (94) having enlarged heads (98), the rods allowing the member (92) to move under gravity from a position at which it closes a hole (90) in the wall (50) to a position at which the hole is opened. The spout assembly may be of plastics material.
